Lawrence was born in Columbia, Maryland on May 9, 1997 as the son of Lily C. Wassif and Lawrence Lee Washington, Sr. On Monday, September 20, 2021 he passed away at his home in Columbia, Maryland. He was a caring and loving father to his only son Isaiah Lawrence Washington and the most lovable son to his mother and father. He was very kind to all his friends. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
He started his early education at The Young School in Columbia, Maryland where he learned to play the piano, draw, sing and other skills. He was one of the most loved children in the school. In 2003, he continued his early education at Atholton Elementary School in Howard County, Maryland, where he played alto saxophone, baseball, and football. He also developed other hobbies such as: fishing, collecting, hiking and hunting. One of his favorite things was to go hunting. One of his favorite memories was his first trip to China with his mom. It was an amazing trip because he had an opportunity to meet his grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins. It was also a chance for him to experience and learn about his mother’s culture.
When Lawrence was growing up, he often expressed that he wanted to play in the NFL or become a police officer. In 2008, he attended Patuxent Valley Middle School in Howard County, Maryland, where he was awarded the Certificate of Achievement by the Council of Elders of the Black Community of Howard County for Performing at the Highest Level on the Maryland School Assessment. He was also awarded as an honor student and presented a Certificate of Achievement in 2009 for the Study of the History and Principles of the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Lawrence started high school at Hammond High, where he met his first girlfriend and continued to play the alto saxophone, football and basketball. In 2012, he attended River Side Military Academy where our former president, Jimmy Carter’s sons graduated. He was hoping to become a military officer. In 2013, he transferred to River Hill High School in Clarksville, Maryland. While at River Hill, he continued playing alto saxophone and basketball. He participated in numerous basketball competitions during his senior year. He received his high school diploma in 2015.
After he graduated from River Hill High School, Lawrence continued his higher education at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida where he majored in Music. He then went on to graduate from Practical Dental School in Virginia Beach in 2018. He worked as a Dental Assistant in a dental clinic in Virginia Beach, Virginia. That same year, his pride and joy, Isaiah Lawrence was born.
During the worst period of the Covid-19 Pandemic when the dental industry was shut down, he worked as an Executive Assistant, with his mom, at Venus Association, Inc. in Columbia, Maryland. While working at Venus, he proved to be an extremely intelligent, capable, and responsible young man.
He contributed his intelligence, education and kindness to the community. His continuous efforts made a difference in the community. His presence will be missed, he will be forever loved and missed by his son Isaiah, Lily C. Wassif (mother), Lawrence Washington, Sr. (father), Jason Cao (brother), Cun Lian Pan (grandmother), Ping Cui (aunt), Yingli Cui (aunt), Jian Cui (uncle), Ming Cui (aunt), Robin Washington (aunt), Carmelita Lockley (aunt) and a host of cousins and friends.
